Hello!Lucky Raffle Winner announced!

Last sunday Hello!Lucky greeting Cards and I held a prize raffle for a 20 letterpress postcard pack. Thanks for all your love and retweets! I’ve collected all your names and held a good old random raffle.

How were the winners picked?

Tradition is throwing all names in a hat and pick one, but to be honest, that’s not how I roll my dice. Instead, I went to www.random.org and parsed your names into the list randomiser. As you can see, people who both twittered and reblogged doubled their chances by doing so. I simply hit the randomise button and first one on the list would become the winner of the pack.

What’s the story?

Hello!Lucky are a San Francisco based boutique printing house, specialising in gorgeous letterpressed greeting cards and customisable holiday cards. You can see several of my letterpress designs in the Hello!Lucky online store.
This year, Hello!Lucky asked several illustrators for a special holiday collection, and I feel honoured to be one of them. You can personalise the designs with your own text, multiple photos and personal holiday wishes! The special holiday card store has just gone online, you can have a look at my holiday designs and many others here!

On my Ipad, of course!

Nothing better than the latest technology to get the job done. Look at all my apps!

My favourite markers are an Edding 400, a Sharpie and a Copic Ciao. The white gouache is from Dr Martins and does a decent job covering up whatever needs to be covered up, and flows well from the brush.

I start with a rough drawing in cyan. When I’m happy with my rough, I go over it with said markers. The bleedproof white is then applied to take out white lines and shapes.

After I’m done, I scan the page. I adjust the hue to get rid of the blue sketch lines and adjust the levels slightly to obtain better contrast. Presto!

This marker doodle eventally became a bonafida Threadless T-shirt design!

This wordplay illustration came about after encountering the word “kvetching” (whinging), which is a rather strange and funny looking word to me. I couldn’t resist to merge it with a word I’m more familiar with, and this is the hand lettered hybrid result.
